This position is responsible for all accountabilities of inspection of vehicles on rail cars and on the ground in rail facilities. Inspection responsibilities consist of identifying, evaluate, and classify damages to the vehicle and recording results using a hand held scanning device.
Conduct vehicle inspections and record results.Daily interaction and communication with claims dept. and/or 3rd party inspectors.Perform ongoing process review and improvements.Identify and report potential day-to-day operational quality issues and potential improvements.Report vehicle damage to appropriate individual(s)Assist with locating lost or missing cargo units, as neededAdhere to company and regulatory agency requirementsParticipate in safety programsPhysical Abilities and Work Environment
Perform successful inspections in inclement weather conditionsPhysical agility to include, but may not be limited to, walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, climbing up and down ladders in rail cars and balancingPhysical demands require constant climbing in/out of rail containersAgility to move in tight, confined spaces within rail containerVisual acuity, including but may not be limited to, close up and distance, inspections in poor lighting, ability to discern colorRequired to work effectively at heights up to 25'Manual dexterityWorking in rail cars in all weather conditionsRequirements
High school graduate or equivalentValid driver's licenseBasic knowledge of computersPrior work experience in the transportation industry preferredStrong attention to detailReceptive to ongoing training and feedbackEffective oral and written communicationStrong customer focus for both internal and external customers.Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job.
