Job Description

Lead and direct all aspects of manufacturing operations to ensure profitability to the bottom line. As a representative of the Company, project an image which exemplifies the high standards necessary to accomplish the goals of the Company.

Reports to VP/Director Operations. 





Assume responsibility for the success of daily operations.  Provide leadership and motivation for all employees by communicating core beliefs and values (creating a positive work environment through fairness and equality).


Champion safety initiatives; provide assistance with safety meetings and ensure employees are familiar with the Hazard Communication Manual, MSDS sheets, and PPE requirements.

Develop production schedule with the Production Planners and set goals with the Production Supervisor(s) to drive the weekly production forecast.  Ultimately responsible to meet agreed upon daily production levels and to provide explanation when fail to meet targets.


Ensures production meets or exceeds quality standards by adhering to SOPs.  Work directly with Quality Manager on quality issues.


Evaluate production problems and recommend corrective action plans.


Provide Supervisor(s) and Team Leaders the tools needed to be successful in performing their day-to-day responsibilities.  Requires being a coach and mentor to direct reports in order to build a strong manufacturing team.


Lead training initiatives; hold Production Supervisor(s) and Team Leaders accountable for ensuring that production associates are trained and qualified on all production processes. This includes promoting cross training and new technology training.


Develop and provide opportunities for career advancement.

Make recommendations to the Director of Operations regarding new technology or ideas that may improve areas of production and/or maintenance.

Set and monitor individual production standards with Production Supervisors and Team Leaders to ensure that performance is consistently monitored, measured and adhered.  


Authorize overtime to Supervisors and Team Leaders to meet production quotas.


Work with the Customer Care on issues with product availability and Order Fulfillment on problems with expected ship dates.


Review and monitor inventory levels and work with the Production Planner to determine ordering frequency.  Ultimately responsible to ensure adequate levels of components, empties, printers, shipping supplies and/or finished goods inventory.

Work with Distribution Manager to discuss ways of improving the transition of components and products through the Company.  

Work with Engineering to promptly resolve quality issues and to report fluctuations in fallout rates on the production floor.

Give input to Engineering on ways to streamline production operations in order to increase profitability.


Analyze production data to report information to the President and VP/Director Operations.


Communicate facility needs with the Director of Facilities.


Attend maintenance meetings and coordinate production staff during production interruptions.  Maintain ongoing list of shutdown maintenance requirements and work with the Maintenance Manager to schedule needed repairs.


Work closely with the EH&S Manager to resolve safety issues.


Hold regular production meetings with Production Supervisors.


Monitor departmental expenses against established departmental budgets.


Manage material and labor costs, as well as down time, to provide strong profit margins.


Responsible to evaluate Production Supervisors and Team Leaders in the Performance Evaluation Process.


Hold Production Supervisor’s and Team Leaders accountable for job performance and set individual goals that accomplish departmental goals.


Responsible for the overall temperament of the production floor.  This involves working with direct reports to ensure positive morale and upholding respectful work environment.


Develop system that rewards and motivates performance for those that exceed Company expectations.


Work with Human Resources in resolving escalated personnel issues administer disciplinary action when required.

Ensure safety and housekeeping practices are followed.


Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience: Four year college or university program certificate; or five years manufacturing management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five years experience in leadership position managing people. Must be proficient in Microsoft email, Word and Excel; specifically spreadsheet manipulation.

Skills: The ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, within all levels of the organization. Proven solid work ethic and the ability to work well with others as well as independently. Staying focused on the task at hand and utilizing problem solving skills. Must be detail oriented with high emphasis on accuracy. Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate and direct reports.
