About Us
America’s newest and most exciting venue for kids' parties and play is leaping into Independence, MO. Kanga’s Indoor Playcenter offers the best indoor play area in town for kids to enjoy, while their parents/caregivers can relax and enjoy tasty food, drinks, and coffee from our café.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Line Cook / Prep Cook to join our small staff. The Line Cook / Prep Cook will be responsible for setting up kitchen workstations and performing cooking duties. The Line Cook / Prep Cook will monitor stock levels, prepare ingredients, and perform other related tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Set up and sanitizing kitchen workstations and kitchen equipment
Prepare ingredients to be used in entrees and sauces, including washing and chopping produce, slicing meat, measuring seasonings, and other food handling
Place prepared cooking ingredients in the assigned workstation according to recipes
Cooking menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Label and stock all food items in their proper place and ensure they are easily accessible
Perform prep list tasks, basic cooking duties, and assist in assembling simple dishes
Assist with other kitchen duties, as needed
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, making sure all waste is removed and the surfaces are sanitized at the end of the day
Comply with food sanitation guidelines and safety rules
Requirements
No prior work experience is required, but experience in food service or kitchen is a plus.
The ideal candidate for this job has the following characteristics:
Basic cooking and chopping knowledge
Works well individually and as part of a team
Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment
Able to work weekends
Able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds occasionally
Able to stand for prolonged periods regularly
