Executive Director
House of Hope Kansas City

 

 
Background
House of Hope Kansas City (HOHKC) is a faith-based Christ-centered nonprofit organization which provides comprehensive treatment for hurting teenage girls. Both the teens and their parents receive counseling. Affiliated with the National House of Hope, HOHKC offers a licensed residential group home for girls, ages 13 through 17, with a capacity of 24. The on-site school, Hope Academy, offers an education geared to each student's individual abilities. Outpatient counseling options for teenagers are also available. Parent support and involvement is crucial to the program approach. House of Hope Kansas City works with teens and their parents to find solutions. With a budget of approximately $600,000 and approximately 20 full and part time staff, House of Hope Kansas City relies on private pay, insurance, and donations.
 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Assure all HOHKC efforts promote a strong Christian and biblical approach to services
  • Serve as the chief spokesperson and advocate for House of Hope Kansas City with potential donors, other organizations, client families and the general public
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors
  • Participate with board members and staff in planning and executing major fundraising events
  • Overall responsibility for the administration of HOHKC
  • Provide leadership for a positive organizational culture enabling all staff to perform quality services in keeping with the mission and vision
  • With the Board and staff, responsible for formation, implementation and assessment of strategic plans
  • Prepare and manage the budget, forecasting, and ensure sustainable, diverse funding streams
  • Attract, retain and engage effective employees
  • Maintain/create an active role with potential and current client families
  • Responsible to the Board of Directors

 

Qualifications

 

  • Active participant in is his/her church
  • Bachelor’s level education required with specialized training in business, mental health, social work, public administration or a similar discipline compatible with HOHKC programs. Master’s degree is preferred
  • Proven record of increasing responsibility in upper management including oversight of internal operations, fiscal responsibility, personnel, and program supervision.
  • Experience as a provider of mental health and/or child welfare services is desirable.
  • Strong budget and financial management experience
  • Experience in different aspects of fund development
  • Possess a history of achieving/exceeding goals, improving the bottom line, evaluating program performance, and growing an organization under his/her responsibility.
  • Extensive personnel management experience
  • Openness to new ideas, initiatives and concepts in residential restoration ministry
  • Understanding of group home licensing regulations preferably in the state of Kansas
  • Experience in program development

  • Effective organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation
  • Ability to manage a relatively small organization and assist with tasks at all levels from macro administration to contact with individual clients and their families.
  • Ability to be flexible to time demands

 

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this individual will be competitive and in accordance with the background and experience of the selected candidate.
