Job Description
Engineer Operations Manager
Premier firm in Design-Build engineering has a need for an energetic and ambitious Engineering Office Manager at our Kansas City location. Responsibilities include but not limited to project management, marketing, client - relations, firm visibility development efforts, and providing general staff leadership and office administration.
Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
In addition to managing projects individually when appropriate, this position will manage the general project workflow of all office staff. Duties included:
Conduct contract negotiations with clients and subconsultants in coordination with an appropriate signatory.Participate in the creation/review of office proposals, project schedules, budgets, project milestones, etc.Develop or assist with project scope of work, project schedule, budget review and schedule progress reports as directed by Ownership.Ensure that all schedule project deliverables are produced on time.Assist in problem solving within projects and aid in resolving them.Guide project team members in prioritizing work based on knowledge of customer requirements, project schedule, and various dependencies while also driving issues to closure or escalate obstacles to project leadership team as necessary.Hold project managers accountable to ensure project outputs are consistently high-quality deliverables, on time and within budget to all business objectives.Present and work with the Senior Leadership team to resolve critical issues or resource conflicts that may have a direct impact on client initiatives.Identify process efficiencies and ways of working with our staff to improve our processes and help the staff deliver on incoming requests.Manage outside subconsultant activities and deliverables as required.Attend team and project coordination meetings.Monitor project budgets.Experience working with various engineering projects, leading senior engineers, designers and technicians.This position will also focus on the visibility of the firm, securing work with active clients and teaming partners, and identifying and securing new work. Part of this effort may include:
Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships.Identify business opportunities and prepare proposals.Attend trade shows, conferences, and seminars.Excellent communication skills and experience working with consultants and contractors, as well as private sector clients.Maintain professional visibility by actively participating in civic and professional organizations.Responsible for cultivation of new and existing relationships including initial client marketing meeting, proposal and budget development, and presentations.A significant part of this position will lead day-to-day business operations and directly supervise a team of employees, including leading and mentoring the team and completing the related administrative duties required:
Develop and monitor workload and staffing requirements, working closely with other management staff to balance office workload and meet all project objectives.Provide a vision and guidance to staff to assist in their technical and professional development.Define objectives for office staff.Conduct annual performance reviews and goal-setting guidance to staff.Provide staff with ongoing performance feedback and counsel to promote improved performance and career development.Advise staff on company policies and procedures, coordinate training and staff meetings as needed, and monitor and enforce compliance in these areas.Review and approve staff timesheets, expense reports, and other administrative matters.Requirements:
The candidate should have 2-7 years of experience, demonstrating an increased level of professional development and responsibility.
