The City of Overland Park has full-time Maintenance Worker positions available in Street Maintenance.
Responsibilities: Positions are basic skill level requiring the ability to operate light to moderately heavy vehicles and equipment, perform assigned repairs to city streets, sidewalks, catch basins and ditch liners. Will assist in the maintenance of traffic control services and respond to emergency situations as required. Operates snow plowing equipment and participates in mandatory shift work during snow and ice removal.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Obtain a valid Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsements within six months from date of hire. ATSSA or IMSA Construction Flagger and Work Zone Safety Certification within 12 months from date of hire. Must maintain an insurable driving record. One year or less of general construction experience to include the operation of light to moderately heavy construction equipment and vehicles including two-ton dump truck, or an equivalent level of experience. Familiarity with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) is preferred. No City residency requirement.
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.
Normal Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri.
Salary Range: $2,514-$2,812/mo. ($14.50-$16.22/hr)
